This role is responsible for the design, preparation and project management of the Broads Authority’s forward dredging programme and also takes the lead for the Authority’s Construction, Design & Management (CDM) requirements. The post holder will assist in the maintenance of the Broads rivers and waterways, giving technical expertise, design briefs and specialist engineering knowledge where required to ensure there is safe attractive boating and recreational facilities for the benefit of all users, as well as enhancing the nature conservation and the unique landscape value of the Broads.
The successful candidate will hold an appropriate civil engineering qualification and have sound practical experience of dredging and/or rivers engineering works. The ability to survey, design and draw up specifications for a range of construction work in or near water is a key part of this role along with an up to date understanding of the health and safety regulations relevant to such tasks.
Excellent communication skills are required alongside considerable experience within project, contract and budget management. The ability to balance conflicting demands, problem solve, negotiate and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and interest groups will be essential. You must also possess good IT skills.
Familiarisation with the Broads navigation, AutoCAD and GIS would be seen as desirable areas of knowledge.
