Could you transfer your skills to a future generation and help preserve a unique landscape? Following the recent approval of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for Water, Mills and Marshes, the Broads Authority on behalf of the Broads Landscape Partnership are seeking to recruit a Clerk of Works to manage construction and maintenance work on the iconic Broads drainage windmills.

Water, Mills and Marshes will help identify, preserve and improve the incredible heritage, environmental and archaeological assets within the Broads, it will provide opportunities for people to learn about them, contribute in practical ways to their upkeep and ensure access for future generations. It will also provide countless opportunities for thousands of people to connect with the unique landscape by deepening their understanding of how it came about.

Working closely with the Programme Manager, Broads Authority Historic Environment Manager, construction college tutors, students and trainees.

As Clerk of Works, you will be responsible for day to day supervision and technical support for a range of heritage construction work including brick work, carpentry, joinery, painting and decorating, ensuring necessary specifications are met. You will also lead small teams of students, trainees, apprentices and volunteers delivering a range of projects on site.

You will have extensive site supervision experience in a broad range of heritage construction skills and of renovation work within the historic environment. You will also have some experience providing advice and guidance to apprentices and trainees working on site.
