Whitlingham Country Park's Triple Celebration
About 3000 visitors got a taste of adventure at Whitlingham Country Park on Sunday March 28th when they celebrated the climax of the Broads Authority’s 20th anniversary year.
Called Gateway to the Broads, Gateway to Adventure, the free family event also marked the 60th anniversary of the National Park movement and the completion of some improvement work to the country park.
Attractions included chain saw sculptures, a Stone Age site demonstrating how our ancestors made tools, the chance to clamber on a new low rope course specially opened for the occasion, canoeing, kayaking, archery, studying cloud formations, bird watching, orienteering and making bug houses.
Russell Wilson, Country Park manager, said:”The aim was to showcase all that Whitlingham Country Park has to offer, right on the city’s doorstep. We were pleased to see so many families having a great time at the climax of our celebration year."
